The purpose of gardening, whether indoor or outdoor, is to have your plants produce yields that impress you in the harvest. To achieve this, there are certain things you must do and avoid. Your garden needs utmost care from you to yield well.
Dos:
• Use recommended varieties for your area of the state. Every plant you want to cultivate has different types that are friendly to particular areas. Make sure you plant the right crops types that are friendly to your environment.
• Sample soil and have it tested every 2 to 3 years. This is because as the years go by, there may be some nutrient going deficient. Doing this helps you make the necessary corrections
• Keep garden free of insects, diseases, and weeds, using plant and ecology-safe methods possible.
• Make use of mulches to control weeds, conserve moisture, and reduce ground rots.
• Water the plants as needed, wetting soil to a depth of 6 inches.
• Thin when plants are small. This will reduce competition and increase your yields in the long run.
• Do not excessively walk and work in the garden when the foliage and soil are wet.
• Make sure you wash and clean your garden tools and sprayer after every use.
• Keep a good record on the garden activities.
Dont’s:
• Don’t depend on varieties that are not recommended for your area. Be cautious while trying new releases.
• Don’t Plant so closely that working or walking through your garden becomes difficult. Space enhances both nutrients and the safety of the plants.
• Do not cultivate so deeply so that you don’t injure the plant roots.
• Do not Shade smaller plants with taller growing crops. You will only shield them out of some needed nutrients and sunlight so doing. Compartmentalize your garden.
• Do not over water. Also you are discouraged from watering in late afternoon.
• Never place fertilizer directly in contact with plant roots or seeds. You will be damaging them directly, so doing.
• Never allow weeds to grow well in the garden before beginning to cultivate.
• Don’t apply chemicals or pesticides without reading the label directions in the container. Do not also apply them in a haphazard manner.
• Discourage the use of chemicals that are not specifically recommended for your garden crops.
• Never store leftover diluted spray.
