Fabric Hammocks
If you want a comfortable hammock then none of the hammocks are as comfortable as the fabric hammock. However the comfort levels in fabric hammocks are varying depending on the fabric used. Hammocks made of cotton fabrics are great for indoor usage and sometimes for outdoor usage as well. Although cotton is a comfortable and breathable fabric, because of its nature to form mildew and mold, cotton hammocks cannot be left in the outside weather for longer period of times. For outdoor use, hammocks made out of polyester fabric are best as polyester fabric is durable, water resistant, needs little maintenance and develops little mold and mildew. Canvas hammocks are tough and durable and if made out of polyester they are very good for outdoor use, while canvas hammocks made in cotton fabric are ideal for indoor usage.
Rope Hammocks
The comfort and durability of rope hammocks depends on the material out of which the ropes are made. Rope hammocks made out of cotton ropes are comfortable as it stretches according to body contours and feels good to the skin. Polyester rope hammocks are not comfortable but as they are durable and water resistant become ideal for regular outdoor use. Polypropylene ropes are shiny, synthetic materials which are mildew resistant and hence rope hammocks made out of this material are also good for regular outdoor use. However, the major disadvantage of polypropylene rope hammocks is that they wear out quickly if left in direct sunlight for longer hours.
Smaller Space Hammocks
In case of space constraint, portable hammocks with stand and hammock chairs are best suited. The fabric chosen for these types of hammocks remains identical to that of the full size hammocks. Hammock chairs along with stand are best suited for families with children because of their stability and kids are well protected in them. However the chair and the stand should be bought only after ensuring that they both fit well together.
Almost all hammocks are portable, however portable and collapsible hammocks are the most portable. While buying light-weight hammocks do not prefer the ones with flimsy frames as these will not be able to support the weight. The ideal strength of the hammocks should be able to support at least twice your weight comfortably.
Hammock Size
It is always advisable to read the dimensions of the hammock as sometimes the name of the hammock might indicate a larger hammock than its actual size. A 54 inch hammock usually is enough to fit two persons and a 60 inch hammock is sufficient for a small family. A 45 inch wide hammock which is at least 76 inches long is enough for a single person.
Camping Hammocks
Fabric hammocks are the best suited while camping. In case you will have to frequent the rain while camping, ensure that you buy a rain canopy along with the hammock. Also camping hammocks should also include mosquito netting in order to ensure that you are safe and sound. Before you store your hammocks ensure that they are dried completely.
