Flowering Trees

Flowering trees make a garden or a road look heavenly. Dogwood, mulberry, crabapple, weeping cherry, myrtle, magnolia, etc. are some of the beautiful trees that are widely planted. They grow in different shaped. They can be trimmed and kept short or allowed to grow really tall. In a garden, they are generally allowed to grow as a single trunk so that more trees can be planted around them and not too much of the lawn under it gets discolored because of the lack of sun. A wide spectrum of colors in blooms is available in different species. White, purple, different shades of pink and yellow are some of the commonly seen blooms.

Crape myrtles have a long blooming period and last from middle of the summer to fall. They come in a variety of colors like white, red, lavender and pink. Some other varieties, give a bloom in the spring but they also look good in the fall. Saucer magnolias also add a lot of beauty to your landscape with its brilliant saucer shaped bloom. To get a bloom from late spring into early summer, hawthorn can be planted.

These trees can be combined with a lawn to have a green background to the blooms. These trees also come in various shapes, like umbrella, cone, etc. they can be pruned to give them a definite shape or just allowed to grow wild and look natural. The foliage sometimes falls off and only the bloom is seen on the trees and at other times the leaves stay on the trees and the combination can look good too.

Some of these trees give out fragrant flowers which can fill the area with a pleasant smell. The shapes of the leaves are also varied. Trees like American Judas Tree has heart shaped leaves and are perfect to be planted on the lawn. White fringe is a dwarf tree with glossy leaves and will look amazing in May with its white bloom.

Trees with different colors of blooms can be combined to give the garden a multicolored look. This can lighten anybody’s mood the moment they see it. The trees also come with different colors of bark. Flowering trees with light colored barks with bright flowers stand out as do trees with a dark bark and white, dark or pale colored flowers.

Flowering trees have a lot of advantages. In addition to beatifying the place, they provide fresh air, fragrance and keep the place cool. It is always a pleasure to sit under the shade of these trees. While choosing trees for your landscape, the existing flowering plants and trees should be considered so that the colors don’t clash. Water requirement and the soil type in your garden should suit the tree you want to grow. Some flowering trees give fruits in the fall when all trees look barren. Fruits will help in having some color during fall and should be considered. The fruiting flowering trees are an added attraction which will also attract birds to your garden.
