Tree Seeds

New leaves for old

Time to get some herbs and salads in

Sun-saturated weekend. Saturday spent potting up windowboxes and pots on the roof terrace. Am aware of slightly neglecting this space since the allotment came into my life and admit the sight of of an organic veggie growbag momentarily quickened my pulse, but there is something serene about surrounding yourself with flowering plants.

Every year, though, am more tempted to pot-grow tomatoes at home as would be nice just once to win the battle against blight. Speaking of which: we also flirt every spring with not buying seed potatoes (or at least stick to Sarco), but then the romance of seeing our sprouting spuds wins out yet again.

Sunday was mostly spent weeding and planning, the two constants of a small plot. The chard is growing thick and fast but within only a few weeks of bolting and need to get in some salads and more spinach to succeed the spring leaves.

Back to the plot tonight or tomorrow to sow tagetes and some of Nick’s calendula mix. Plus, need to find a home for a few Peace Seeds sunflowers…
